We are one of the few training providers in RI offering dual certification! Our class is accepted by the state of RI and all other EPA-authorized states.
Beginning in April 2010, contractors and rental property owners performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. We are offering the RRP class (initial 8 hours) online and in-person.

Testing Policy: If you do not pass the written examination you must retake and pass the test within 30 days of the class in order to receive your certification.
Paid Class Registration Information The Childhood Lead Action Project requires a fee of $225 for the Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Training. Pre-registration for these classes is required. If the class has filled we will make every effort to enroll you in another class. Please be aware that only those registered for a class will be admitted. No walk-ins are allowed, and you must arrive on time to be eligible to receive your Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Training Certification. We limit class size so participants have the opportunity to ask questions and have a quality experience.
Registration and Payment Details Payment is due in full upon registration of the class. IF WE CANCEL: You can request a full refund in writing up to 30 days after the date of the class, or take another RRP class (within 90 days of the date of the cancelled class) at no additional cost. To request a refund, email liz at leadsafekids.org or write to Liz Colón, Childhood Lead Action Project, 1192 Westminster Street, Providence, RI 02909. IF YOU CANCEL: If you cannot make your class and you give us more than 48 hours notice you can register for another RRP Training (within 60 days of the date of the cancelled class) at no additional cost or recieve a refund less a $50 admistrative fee. If you cannot make your class and you give us less than 48 hours notice or fail to show for the class, you forfeit your class fee and no refunds will be issued in the event of your cancellation.
Please note: A $30 fee will be added to all returned checks.
Replacement Certificates As of May 1, 2010 there is a $25 replacement fee for RRP Certification Certificates. We accept credit cards and checks made payable to the Childhood Lead Action Project.
Cancellation Policy We reserve the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration or inclement weather. The minimum registration we require for the initial RRP class is 10 people. The minimum registration for the hands-on activity session taken after completing the online RRP class is 6 people. Inclement Weather In the event of bad weather, watch, listen or log on for cancellation notices at the location of class to be held. For example: If the class is to be held at Gibbs College and they are closing due to bad weather, we will not hold our class.
If no cancellation is mentioned you can assume the class is still running.
